Heading
northwest, on the Alcan, from Tok, there's a good view of the Alaska
Range, top left. This small lake - Dot Lake - is a tranquil vision
worth a stop. The Athabascan First Nation used the area as a hunting
camp in the past. They still live in Dot Lake Village between the
lake and The Tanana River, to the east. A cluster of buildings, on
the Alcan, is named Dot Lake. It was a work camp-Sears City-for Alaska
Highway workers 1941-43. Dot Lake is 41 miles northwest of Tok on
the Alcan. |
