End of the
Alaska-Canada
Highway
The "official" end of the Alcan, 1387 miles from "Mile 0" at Dawson Creek BC, comes at Delta Junction AK. Here it reverts to Hwy 2, continuing on to Fairbanks as Richardson Hwy. This highway runs north from Valdez AK, to Delta Junction as Hwy 4 where it's joined by the AlCan and converts to Hwy 2 - the same number as the AlCan in Alaska. Delta Junction lies between Delta River, to the west, and Tanana River, to the east, forming a delta shape. A replica trapper cabin and cache, left, stand near the Delta Junction visitor center. A Mile 1422 monument, top left, is surrounded by area flags.
