The panel, above, is on the reverse side of the "End of the Alaska Highway monument," right. The bison symbolizes the town's origin as Buffalo Center because they were brought here to live in the 1920's. "Mile 1422" was the original miles of the AlCan. Realignment over the years has shortened the total to 1387 miles. The Delta Junction Visitor Center is behind the monument, right. The weathered sign, top right, is fastened to the Sullivan Roadhouse nearby. The AlCan starts in British Columbia and goes 613 miles as BC Hwy 97. Near Watson Lake, it converts to Yukon Hwy 1 for 577 miles. When it crosses the Alaska border, it becomes Alaska Hwy 2 for the last 200 miles.

The AlCan joins the Richardson Hwy at Delta Junction and combined they continue 96 miles to Fairbanks AK.
