The
AlCan continues west a few more miles before turning north. Seven
miles past Toad River there's an interesting turnout with an explanation
of a geological nature. The Sentinel Range, to the north, exhibits
this "folded mountain" phenomenon. These mountains continued
to grow until about 45 million years ago. They have been gradually
eroding since. The glacial, green Toad River glides swiftly by toward
its confluence with the Liard River. In northwest Canada and Alaska
many rivers join other main flows on the way to a final destination. |
