As
the Liard River flows southeast it twists and turns through several
rapids and canyons. Whirlpool Canyon is one of these spots which terrorized
and took the lives of a good number of fur trappers. This is one of
the rare places along the Alcan, from Liard River to Watson Lake,
that can't be seen from the highway. A short dirt road leads to this
spot. An aster plant ekes out an existence among the riverside boulders.
Whirlpool Canyon is 6 miles north of Coal River. |
