According to the interpretive panel, this is a tale of two bridges. The original, built in 1943, along with the AlCan, was one of 5 truss bridges in Alaska still used. It became too narrow and low for larger, higher trucks. The new bridge, built in 2010, is wide enough for a bike-pedestrian path, and is open above for better clearance. Concrete 115ft columns give it a strong base. Top left and bottom right are panel photos.
